How do I import the Xero file into Xero?
- In Xero, open Accounting then Bank accounts and select the account.
- Choose Manage account, then Import a statement, and pick the CSV.
- Confirm the Date, Amount and Description columns map to Xero’s fields, then import.
LedgerClip writes the single signed Amount column Xero expects (money out negative, money in positive), so you skip Xero’s manual column setup — just check the date format matches your Xero organisation (US M/D vs UK D/M).
What's in the Xero file?
Each transaction becomes one row with the posting date, the description exactly as Capital One printed it, the amount with the right sign, and the running balance when the statement prints one. The opening and closing balances are checked against the total, so an incomplete extraction is caught before you import. On a credit card, purchases come out as negative amounts and payments or credits as positive, and the QuickBooks export is written as a credit-card account so QuickBooks files it correctly.
Is my Capital One credit card statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened by code running in your browser and never leaves your device — the byte counter on the converter above stays at zero the whole time. There is no account and no sign-up to convert.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the Capital One statement have to be a downloaded PDF, or can I use a scan or photo?
- Both work. A statement downloaded from Capital One is read from its text and is the most reliable. A scan or a phone photo is read on your device with OCR and checked so the totals reconcile.

- Three a month, with every export format. Pro removes the limit.
