How do I import the Excel file into Excel?
- Double-click the .xlsx file to open it in Excel (or Numbers or Google Sheets).
- The Date, Description, Amount and Balance columns are already typed as numbers and dates.
- Total, filter or pivot the Amount column directly — no text-to-columns cleanup needed.
Because the amounts are written as real numbers (not text), SUM, filters and pivot tables work on the first try — the cleanup step most PDF-to-Excel tools leave you with is already done.
What's in the Excel file?
Each transaction becomes one row with the posting date, the description exactly as Chase printed it, the amount with the right sign, and the running balance when the statement prints one. The opening and closing balances are checked against the total, so an incomplete extraction is caught before you import. On a credit card, purchases come out as negative amounts and payments or credits as positive, and the QuickBooks export is written as a credit-card account so QuickBooks files it correctly.
Is my Chase credit card statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened by code running in your browser and never leaves your device — the byte counter on the converter above stays at zero the whole time. There is no account and no sign-up to convert.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the Chase statement have to be a downloaded PDF, or can I use a scan or photo?
- Both work. A statement downloaded from Chase is read from its text and is the most reliable. A scan or a phone photo is read on your device with OCR and checked so the totals reconcile.
- Is my Chase statement uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is opened by code running in your browser and never transmitted. The byte counter on the page shows zero throughout.
- What does the Excel file contain?
- Date, description, and the signed amount — purchases as negative, payments and credits as positive — plus the running balance when the statement prints one.
- How many statements are free?
- Three a month, with every export format. Pro removes the limit.
